Description: Coprinopsis atramentaria, also known as the common ink cap or tippler’s bane, is a grey-brown mushroom that dissolves into black ink as it matures and was once used as writing ink. Though edible, it becomes toxic when combined with alcohol due to a compound called coprine, which causes severe reactions similar to disulfiram.
